Architecture & landmarks
The Venetian Harbor is architecturally unique due to its blend of Venetian, Ottoman, and later neoclassical influences. Its most iconic feature is the Lighthouse of Chania, which dominates the entrance of the harbor and is one of the oldest lighthouses of its kind in the Mediterranean. Other significant landmarks include the historic Venetian shipyards (Neoria), the Janissaries Mosque, and the picturesque waterfront lined with traditional cafés, restaurants, museums, and small art galleries. |
